I wanted to paint something Big Bertha-ish. I also wanted the feel of a sky from a Beksinski painting.

Overall, the piece took a little over ten days to finish, which felt like much more. The artillery piece took up most of this time.

Maybe I rushed the spotter in the ushanka, but I really wanted to finish this piece.

I like it, just a bit too "soft", but I'm not a big paintbrush artist so ;P

Just a silly question... where is Chertograd?

I came across references to St. Petersburg being mockingly called Chertograd while Grigori Rasputin lived there, supposedly the word meaning City of the Devil.

As far as this image goes, it's not supposed to be any real location.

Well, I saw it as you finished, and it still looks good. Nice work.

If you sharpen the distinction between the top of the machine and the background, the piece will look a lot more finished.

Good going - you're really progressing well.
